When you visit our office, our dentists will discuss with you the different types of sedation available as well as your level of anxiety or fear. This will help us determine which type of sedation will best meet your needs. Some of the types of sedation dentistry available at our office include:
- Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) — a mild sedative that is provided via inhalation. You simply inhale the gas through a nose mask to begin feeling more relaxed. This type of sedation wears off quickly after you stop inhaling the gas.
- Oral Sedation – our dentists will prescribe an oral medication, which you will take shortly before your appointment. By the time you receive treatment, you will be completely relaxed.
- IV Sedation – this type of sedation is administered intravenously directly to your bloodstream. It helps you feel relaxed without putting you completely to sleep.
If you receive oral or IV sedation, you will need to have someone with you to drive you home following your appointment. No matter what form of sedation you receive, our team will monitor you carefully during your appointment to ensure that you are as safe and comfortable as possible.
